Doctoral Degree Program (Ph. D.)

Ph. D.

Admission to the Doctoral Degree Program (Ph. D.) at the Alliance School of Business, Alliance University is strictly based on merit.
Eligibility
  • Master’s degree with 60% marks (50% for SC/ST) in aggregate from a recognized University in a management related discipline
  • A minimum of two years full-time work experience
  • A high score in GMAT/CAT or Alliance Aptitude Test (AAT)
Selection Criteria
Candidates are required to appear for the Admission Selection Process comprised of:
  • Alliance Aptitude Test (AAT)
  • Personal Interview
  • Evaluation of the research synopsis on a proposed dissertation work
The School also uses other parameters such as scholastic and extracurricular record and work experience for admission. The final selection of the candidate will be based on the overall performance in the Admission Selection Process.
Bridge Courses
Students not having an MBA Degree or equivalent degree are required to attend courses as follows to enable to attend the coursework of the Doctoral Program.
These classes are offered for the regular MBA program at the Alliance School of Business and completing the course with a CGPA of 2.5 is essential to pursue the Doctoral Program.
The Courses are as follows:
  1. Corporate Finance
  2. Financial Reporting
  3. Leadership and OB
  4. Marketing Management
  5. Operations Management
  6. Management of Innovation and Technology
Course Fees: Each student registering for the above courses will have to pay a Tuition Fees of Rs. 20,000 per course in advance. Other fees like repeat of the course, in case of failures and re-totaling will be as per the MBA Handbook.

  • The Application Form and Prospectus for the Doctoral Degree Program can be obtained from the Office of Admissions on payment of Rs.3,000/- (Rupees three thousand only) in cash or through demand draft drawn in favor of "ALLIANCE UNIVERSITY" payable at Bangalore

Fees and Financial Aid

Scholarship

Following scholarships from Alliance School of Business are available to admitted students in the Doctoral Degree Program (Ph. D.)
Students pursuing the Doctoral Program, as internal scholars will be awarded scholarship – Research Scholarship Fellowships on their offering Teaching or Research Assistance to the Faculty as follows:
Teaching Fellowship – Teaching support to courses offered by the Faculty aggregating to a total of 10 Credits, in an academic year, will be given an amount of Rupees Fifteen thousand per month on completion of the coursework and having successfully passed the Comprehensive Examinations.
Research Fellowships - Research Support to Faculty to a total of 60 hours a month, or an aggregate of 720 hours in an academic year will be given a fellowship of Rupees Ten thousand a month on completion of the coursework and having successfully passed the Comprehensive Examinations.
This Research Scholar Fellowships can be awarded in a combination of both the Fellowships at a time. Students will be expected to allocate time for teaching and research without any hindrance to their Dissertation work. This will in no way be a cause for extension of the Studentship beyond three years.

Terms and Conditions

Students are required to abide by the following terms and conditions upon admission to the courses offered by Alliance School of Business :
  1. Every effort has been made to ensure the accuracy of the information contained in this Prospectus and it is issued on the express condition that all matters in it are subject to change from time to time without notice. While the Alliance School of Business will make all reasonable endeavors to deliver the courses of study and other educational services as set out in this Prospectus, circumstances may change prompting the Alliance School of Business to reserve the right to vary the content and delivery of courses and programs, to either discontinue or combine courses and programs, or to discontinue educational services.
  2. The subject titles, descriptions and contents are subject to change based on the University guidelines.
  3. The fee schedule for the courses offered by the Alliance School of Business is posted at www.alliance.edu.in Fees payable for the courses offered by the Alliance School of Business are subject to review periodically. Ensuring that fees are paid before the announced due dates is the sole responsibility of the student. Non-payment of the prescribed fees within the due dates will result in the cancellation of the registration to the course or to the subsequent semester/year.
  4. Policy regarding refund of course fees:
    1. The course fee has two components - Registration Fee and Tuition Fee.
    2. The Registration Fee, once paid, will not be refunded by the Alliance School of Business under any circumstances. The objective of this clause is to discourage frivolous applications.
    3. The refund of Tuition Fee paid will be considered under the following conditions:
      1. If a candidate withdraws from the program prior to the commencement of the program, then 75 percent of the tuition fee will be refunded.
      2. If a candidate withdraws from the course within one week after its commencement, then 60 percent of the tuition fees will be refunded.
      3. If a candidate withdraws from the course anytime after one week from the date of its commencement, then no refund of tuition fees will be made.
  5. Students will also be liable for any travel and accommodation costs incurred for placement. For certain courses, students may incur additional specific charges for such items or activities as sports and games fees, specialized material, or field trips. The Alliance School of Business reserves the right to make additional charges to students for such activities.
  6. The Alliance School of Business may withdraw or amend its offer of admission, or terminate the registration, if it is found that either a false or a misleading statement has been made or that significant information has either been omitted or withheld in a candidate's application form.
  7. The Alliance School of Business does not accept responsibility and expressly excludes all liability that may result from any loss, damage, or injury caused to a student or to his/her property.
  8. Students enrolled in the courses offered by the Alliance School of Business are required to sign an undertaking at the time of the commencement of the academic year consenting to abide by the rules, regulations and the code of conduct of Alliance University.
  9. Disputes of any kind are subject to the jurisdiction of the Courts in Bangalore only.
